[pW 4.0] program stops working immediately on launch [Fixed]

On some Windows systems, especially systems with faster CPU speeds, PowerWorship 4.0.2 or previous editions might stop working immediately on program launch. This is due to stability and reliability issues with the embedded database package, Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition (CE), 3.5.

The problem manifests itself with the following error message details, when PowerWorship crashes on startup.

Problem signature:

Problem Event Name: CLR20r3

Problem Signature 01: powerworship.exe

Problem Signature 02: 4.0.2.0

Problem Signature 03: 533ccd33

Problem Signature 04: System.Data.SqlServerCe

Problem Signature 05: 3.5.5692.0

Problem Signature 06: 486140a5

Problem Signature 07: 46a

Problem Signature 08: 32

Problem Signature 09: System.NullReferenceException

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.4

Locale ID: 1033

Additional Information 1: 0a9e

Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

The key part of the error signature is the following two lines:

Problem Signature 04: System.Data.SqlServerCe

Problem Signature 09: System.NullReferenceException


This problem has been resolved by upgrading to Microsoft SQL Server CE 4.0 SP1, which is known to be more reliable and also offers better performance, etc.

To get the fix - uninstall PowerWorship 4.0 (via Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel) and then download and reinstall PowerWorship 4.0.

The problem is fixed in PowerWorship 4.0.3 and later.

After installing PowerWorship, you can check your program version via Help (?) > About menu option in PowerWorship.
