OpenOffice 3.0.1

Post by JohnM » Sun Apr 12, 2009 9:17 pm

Known problem ...

Upgrading from OpenOffice.org 3.0 to 3.0.1 will break PowerWorship. When you attempt to build a slide presentation using PowerWorship, the program will hang and will fail to launch OpenOffice.org.

I have posted a question on the OOo community forum to get some assistance with this issue, which seems to be a problem launching the soffice executable outside of its home directory.

I will post an update when this issue is resolved.

I opened a defect report against OOo 3.0.1 for this issue and it has been accepted as a macport issue, as far as I can tell, but there is no resolution yet.

Problem resolved

It turns out this was user/developer error. It remains a mystery what changed in 3.0.1 that the problem surfaced, but I followed the advice of the OOo developers to launch the soffice executable from the OOo MacOS directory rather than from the OOo program directory (which is a pointer to MacOS) and the problem is resolved on OOo 3.0.1. I updated the download package for MacOS to include the necessary fix.
